How do I know if I have damaged it?
- Damaging one vagus nerve may make your voice become horse and could present you with difficulty when speaking and swallowing
- More major damage can lead to loss of muscle tone in many areas of the body, including the pharynx, larynx, oesophagus and intestines. This can induce vomiting or loss of visceral reflexes. Your heart beat can also become very irregular
- Damage can be life-threatening as it can lead to asphyxiation

Am I suitable for VNS treatment?
